We are now in France staying near Carcassonne in a chaming hotel which ,ore than makes up for the one in Cadaques; We are not far from this fortification and will explore it soon.
This moring we have been at Carcassonne = an amazing fortification = I will post some pictures once i reduce them on the laptop. Phil has been a bit depressed during the visit because he knows a lot about the histiory of the place = a lot of slaughtering of protestants by catholics = or maybe the other way around. One of the things which has surprised us here is the rate of smoking. We know that Australia now has a very low rate and I guess we have just got used to smoke free plqces qnd qlmost no one we know smokes. here it is a constant irritation.
